Beliz has been teaching ceramic techniques  locally and internationally since 2012, she is now teaching workshops  in the beautiful wine country of Baja California. The region known as Guadalupe Valley offers beautiful scenery with picturesque wineries, boutique hotels and excellent plein air restaurants. Beliz’s studio is situated in a grove of oak trees and it features a view of the Valley of San Antonio de las Minas.
You can have a  pleasant weekend visit wine tasting  and experiencing a  Raku workshop.

The Raku workshop is open to all levels of expertise, people with little previous clay experience are welcomed. In this workshop we will learn the fundamentals of Raku technique with tips and tricks .We will use our own glazes and commercial glazes together. You can purchase  your own  bisque tusk form to do Raku.

GENERAL INFORMATION
FEES: The tuition of $100 includes instruction by artist Beliz Iristay, use of tools, glazes and raku firing.
The class begin at 9 a.m. You can  also choose Beliz’s signature bisque tusk form to fire for an extra fee  (prices varies on different sizes) or you can bring your own bisque form with 8″ height limitation.

The first part  will be the introduction to Raku technique. Afterwards you will be painting(glazing) your forms with a choice of your glaze colors.We will prepare to load the kiln together and start the firing, first part takes 3 hrs. While the kiln is firing, between the sections you can have your lunch break at the valley restaurants and relax.
The second part, after we load and fire the kiln,we will wait until the desire temperature reached.When the kiln is ready to be open we will start doing Raku.The class is over when the firings are completed, usually around by 5 pm we will be done cleaning the pieces.
The classes are open to people 18 and over. Be ready to work hard and have fun!!
